Pin-Up girls before and after

Most of my friends know I love the art of pin-ups and this week someone sent to me this shots of pin-ups before they have been transformed into illustration.
They are from Gil Elvgren work and I was impressed about his respect by the models characteristics and how his final work is committed to keep them [...]
illustrators.. :/

Perhaps a little snob and a bit of an inside joke but kinda funny none the less… The sharper, smarter, brilliant, witty, and funnier ones (in one word; the illustrators) among you will get this straight away and will give one another a knowing nod when passing in the corridors, leaving the others wondering what [...]
Jodee Knowles Exhibition* Sydney 11-15 Oct

The exhibition is called ‘Chimera’ and plays on fashion, with use of form and fabric.
Knowles’s success in Sydney follows that in her hometown of Perth, and in Los Angeles where she was discovered by Pink… yes the singer! Who went on to feature four of Knowles’s works in the film clip for the music chart [...]

Watch the film, [...]

Random Patterns

Lately we have been thinking about the challenge of patterns, using specific shapes and colours in grid format to create something interesting. Siggi Eggertsson’s work follows this approach, reinforcing that creativity need not come from complexity. His site is full of coolness. http://www.siggieggertsson.com/
Paul Sample and Ogri

Paul Sample (cartoonist)
Wikipedia - Paul Sample
Paul Sample’s cartoon work in ‘Bike’ magazine was a huge influence on me. His character of biker ‘Ogri’ was what made me want to draw and own a Triumph Bonneville.
Whilst his work may not adhere to current trends in political correctness, I think most people would enjoy his prolific output.
Paris and London

I just like this for some reason. Couldn’t tell you why tho… This style isn’t something I usually aspire to, but I think in this case, it really compliments the content. And it’s that – the content – that gets me on these two posters. It’s just a really nice way to sum up a [...]
